Every now and again somebody comes along who inspires and helps just by talking. Gayner Harriet Taylor is one such person. Her commitment to helping the people of Exeter and East Devon to become more contented, happier versions of themselves is compelling and fits perfectly with the entire Live and Move philosophy.
Gayner was recently awarded funding by Move More Cranbrook to run free, eight-week workshops for residents of Cranbrook known as the ‘Wellbeing Workout’ to which anybody can sign up. The first workshop will run from 22 June – 17 August and then a further workshop will run from 7 September – 2 November. Enabling people to access the tools to take charge of their health career, happiness and life, absolutely free of charge. It almost sounds too good to be true.
Gayner had worked for many years as a senior manager in the NHS, but this diagnosis made her start to learn more about herself. Upon diagnosis, Gayner says that she made a conscious decision to only surround herself with positivity.
“In 2010 my life changed forever; I was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. This defining moment in my life taught me so much about taking care of myself and living life to its fullest. I started a wellness quest to not only heal myself but lead a full spectrum life and I haven’t looked back since. I knew my diagnosis wasn’t my fault, but it was my responsibility.”
“I decided to change my mindset, I began to understand that the words I used when I communicated with myself, and others reflected my thoughts on the inside. I made a choice in this moment and that was where my power was.”
And let’s face it – the past few years have changed us all and left many questioning how they live their lives. Gayner says that we all have self-limiting beliefs and that there has never been a more poignant time for people to access this kind of coaching and support. She recognises that we are all looking to live our lives with ‘passion and purpose’.
Gayner added: “The Live and Move initiative is about getting the residents of Cranbrook and Exeter more active, however it’s never as simple as that. So often it’s our mindset, self-limiting beliefs and lack of confidence and motivation that stops us from acting. My Wellbeing Workout coaching programme focuses on changing mindsets and mastering thoughts to release blocks and self-limiting beliefs that can hold us back.”
And if you’re still not sure whether coaching is for you: “If it makes your knees knock, you should do it. I really understand that people might be nervous about signing up to something like this, but sometimes you just have to trust the opportunity that’s in front of you.”
