Move for Free
Where to start?
If you’re one of the many people who would like to move more but are not sure where to start, it’s often a good idea to start close to home, in your own community.
Here is our guide to some of the free opportunities taking place right here in Exeter and the surrounding area:

Freemoovement
One of our favourite groups, Freemoovement runs an hour-long free exercise class outdoors in six different locations each week. Paul Mouland, who started the group four years ago, says the classes attract people from 18-85 and is for everybody – regardless of your fitness level.

Tennis for Free
Tennis for Free sessions take place weekly at Heavitree Pleasure Ground and Cowick Barton Playing Fields. These sessions are a brilliant introduction to tennis for all ages, a great sessions for families to enjoy together!

Parkrun and Junior Parkrun

Walking - The Green Circle
Exeter’s Green Circle route is another fabulous option on the doorstep and the perfect opportunity to catch up with a friend for a walk. This 12-mile route (which doesn’t all need to be done at once!) takes in the five valley parks within the boundaries of the city. Live and Move are working with partners on refreshing parts of the route and mapping smaller walks – keep an eye on our website and social media to find out more.

Fitness for over 55s
If you’re keen to escape city life, you could do worse than heading to Haldon Hill. Here you’ll find activities on offer from Active Devon, including specialist fitness groups for the over 55s including Pilates, Nordic walking and cycling. These all take part within the stunning Haldon Forest Park, a 3,500-acre forest site with views across Exeter.
