Cranbrook Christmas Cracker

Dec 14, 2023

It’s not every Saturday morning that you see runners of all ages, dressed as Santa, running across Cranbrook Country Park. We recently had a great time witnessing just that, as runners took part in the Cranbrook Christmas Cracker event, organised by Move More Cranbrook and Cranbrook Running Club.

This 2km family fun Santa run, and 5km race, took place on Saturday 2 December and it really was a sight to see on a such a beautiful, crisp morning.

Chair of the Move More Cranbrook Steering Group, Matt Rowett, said that it has been great to see so many keen runners of all ages flock to Cranbrook.

He added: “Our weekly parkrun events have been growing steadily since we started the juniors in 2018, and has proved to us that Cranbrook Country Park is a great location for a run. This Santa run seemed like the perfect way to end the year, and to encourage runners of all ages to get involved and dress up as Santa.”

Runners were rewarded with hot chocolate, a medal and a bag for taking part.

Matt says that there will be plenty more events like this in Cranbrook in 2024.

“This isn’t about putting on events for runners necessarily. It’s about us putting on fun events that are going to encourage people to be active, and to have fun. Next year we plan to do a colour run which should be lots of fun, and we can’t wait to encourage as many people as possible of all ages to get involved.”
